November 3, 2022: EXPLORE raises £40M capital to accelerate plans to unleash AI / data / cloud talent into the world.

EXPLORE has just raised a £40M round of capital to accelerate its plans of teaching 50,000 students valuable data skills over the next 5 years across Africa. EXPLORE also plans to build an internal Faculty of 1,000+ Scientists across the region that will both teach students and work to solve important problems across the world.

The expansion will provide a much needed boost of scarce skills into the African economy as well as create a number of new jobs for the region.

‘We’re a platform that sources, teaches and then deploys human capital into the world,’ said GROUP CEO Shaun Dippnall.

‘Often we hear we’re in the technology business. We’re not in the technology business — we’re in the business of finding great people and empowering them to reach their potential. And the only way to do that, we believe, is by providing them platforms to learn how capable they are and then enabling them to contribute to the world from there.’

‘Our Faculty, which numbers 350 currently — most of them situated across Africa — are some of the best teachers, scientists and problem solvers around.’

At EXPLORE our team of scientists and engineers ‘teach and develop after applied research’ with a strong focus on delivering valuable outcomes to the world, whether it be jobs created, water saved or better credit granted.

Our teams use AI, data and new ways of working and thinking to disrupt legacy thinking. This is what creates true change / transformation

‘Our Development Teams solve difficult problems that have impact. To do this we empower our EXPLORERs by deploying small, autonomous teams to build intelligent products and solutions that leverage the latest advances in AI, cloud and digital.’

EXPLORE organise their people into a number of Development Areas. Currently EXPLORE has Utilities and Financial Services Units, both of these working on large-scale ‘thorny problems’ that can only be solved with the latest advances in AI / data / cloud technologies.

EXPLORE has grown from 5 to 350 EXPLORERs over the last 2–3 years, riding the mega-trends of digitisation, AI, blended learning, remote-work and low-cost offshoring.

At its core EXPLORE is a GROUP that has been able to attract and retain world-class talent from low-cost destinations (often from its own Academies), configure them into powerful teams and then unleash them into the world.

EXPLORE is founded on a few core values — performance, impact and adventure; coupled with humility, humour and courage. It is infused with strong academic sensibilities yet there is an obsession with solving real-world problems and ‘not getting lost on the whiteboard’.

In some senses EXPLORE sounds like a modern twist on an age-old Institution — the University. The company has a large body of dedicated professionals self-organising around interesting problems who, at their core, are contributing by teaching others and moving the world forwards.

EXPLORE is a fresh take on the foundations that built our civilisation. How do you build, teach and deploy knowledge to the world … in the hope of betterness for all.
